It is my belief that United have the experience at the business end of the season and will open up the gap between themselves and their noisy neighbours. I envisage City dropping points against a revitalised Chelsea side, and an in-form Van Persie against Arsenal. Tevez is at least 10 days away from return, Kompany still out with his calf strain (Savic is no replacement for him). And as Swansea recently proved, you can’t write off the minnows – even though United are one of very few teams that have beaten them on their travels. So, be wary of under-assessing the smaller clubs.

It may come down to the final stretch or indeed the derby game at the Etihad. Either way, I see United comfortably nicking the title.
