What do City fans think on buying Arsenal ?

City have hit the headlines again with reports that Arsenal duo Clichy and Nasri are targets for the Blues. Clichy was widely reported to on the way to Liverpool in recent but Man City are now the front runners to seal the deal. This would indicate that Wanye Bridge or Kolarov could be on the way out of the club. Kolarov has made it clear he is in it for the long hall since his move from  Lazio last summer. Where as Bridge was loaned out to relegated side West Ham. First off how do City fans feel on Clichy ?  I’m not sure, for one I know he has a year or so on his contract and is currently the longest serving player at the club presently, but surly Arsene is not going to sell us another dud is he ?

Nasri, I was only talking to a United fan last Sunday (Thank Christ it was before my dinner) who assured me that Samir Nasri was going to no other club except Untied that the deal was all but announced. At this time I was thinking why the hell would Arsenal sell a player of that quality to Untied weakening themselves and strengthening Untied ? Now the papers are saying that City may have come into the race for the player. Question again, Why would Arsenal sell to City on the same grounds ? Turns out,  from what I read on a manure site is Arsenal don’t see City as a threat and should they sell to United it would be unfair to football as a whole, Who could stop them then ?.

My opinion would be, Nasri has a year to run and Arsenal were pretty sure the young French star would be happy with the £58k a week rather than sell out and go for the £90k a week. How wrong they were now in a situation of not breaking the wage cap in place at Arsenal and losing face they will have to sell. Untied offer £15m so City are now interested so the price is now some where between £20m – £25m see where this is going !

Nasri is a fantastic football who would get a place in any starting 11 except maybe the Champions Barcelona but apart from that he is a class player and the type of player most City and United  fans alike would love to see join their club .

Whats your view on the Transfer market to date and on the breaking Arsenal stories ?

  2. If Tottenham can be United’s feeder club then it’s only fair that we get Arsenal as a feeder club.

  4. We’ll bankrupt ush1ted by forcing them to spend more money than they can afford. And then dance in their ashes.

  6. Nasri seems a duplicate of Silva (right down to the skittishness in front of goal) but to get him would mean United would not, so you have that. Though I don’t think Mancini has really given up on Alexis Sanchez yet, and he would be preferable to Nasri. This may just be an attempt to drive up Nasri’s price so Alex doesn’t get him on the cheap. Then, maybe we go hard after Wesley Sneijder with United, presumably, out of the running for him.

  8. Clichy is not good enough defensively. Kolarov has been weak positionally so far and could be replaced but only with someone significantly better, which clichy is not.
I think Mancini would like us to have an attacking threat from the full-backs as an alternative way of breaking teams down who park the bus and so he want a decent wing-back but primarily we need someone who can add solidity to the defence.

Nasri is very skilful, a la silva, but between them we would need more goals contributed. If Sanchez is always gonna see us as his second choice then I’d be put off by that.

  10. Clichy gets ripped by AFC fans for failing to concentrate a few time at vital stages of games but… he is complimented by AFC fans for always giving 100% every game and being fast enough to ‘cover up’ mistakes he makes positionally, a little like micah. I would say get clichy as he has CL experience, adds attributes we do not have at left back, like great speed which zaba and olarov do not possess. I’d be happier seeing clichy defend one on one against nani than our other left backs.

As for Nasri, I would love it if city signed him. He is similar to Silva because they are both technically gifted BUT, Nasri has a power shot, more of an eye for goal and perhaps a little more dynamism going forward with ball at feet. Silva has a more refined pass, greater ability to find space in the middle of the park and is of course left footed. If we get Nasri and clichy, we should be very very happy, and if we get them, AFC and MUFC will criticize us and them talking about money, and ‘they’re no good anyway’ etc. I cannot see city getting nasri, clichy is a different matter. If we get nasri, we will have a truly fantastic team, even if silva got injured, we would have nasri to be our creative attacking midfielder. I will have a big, dirty grin if we get nasri

Agree with you 100% on Sanchez if City are second fiddle and he just looking for a better pay day don’t even get on the plane.

  14. First Off I cant help but point out how many times you spelled United wrong.
I also want to say that Nasri and Silva and De Jong and Y. Toure would be the perfect mid field that would support Tevez, Balotelli, and Dzeko! CLichy is, i have to admit, exciting for me to be in Eastlands and I think his experience will be great for European Tournaments. I say we beat Untied (just kidding) United to Nasri so we can win another cup!

  16. Not a big Clichy fan, as he has suffered from lapses in concentration, but if we can get him for 7 million, as rumored, then it’s a pretty good signing. He’s not a better defender than Kolarov, nor is he really any better going forward, but he does possess the pure pace that Aleks lacks. Together, they would make for a pretty solid left-back tandem, with Clichy playing against really pacy wingers.

Nasri? Loved him at Marseille, but which player would we be getting for 20+ million? The superstar from the first three or four months of last season, or the guy who was pretty much a dud during the rest of his Arsenal career? He’s got pace, and excellent ball skills, and would add another dimension to our attack in tandem with Silva, but I think the key for Samir is maintaining his health/fitness. That would be an awful lot of money to spend on a player in the last year of his contract, but it might be worth it just to not only add him to our squad but also keep him out of United’s clutches. If we have any shot at getting Mata, however, that should be the priority, not Nasri.

  18. Either club stand a chance of getting Nasri, if they can avoid letting him see what a shitehole Manchester is. But he’ll find out eventually and insult your club, your city, your fans and your restaurants

  24. Clichy to complement Aleksander, as Nasri will to Silva – sounds more than alright to me and I could see it as another useful addition to the squad if both are happy and continue to win medals. Nasri and Silva are somewhat similar but I wouldn’t say ‘duplicate’ as suggested by 3. Bluemoon70 – Silva is a gifted passer of the ball! Hasn’t got the consistency going but that seems expected soon enough as he continues to better understand the team. Nasri doesn’t pass as well as Silva does, but he is good going forward with the ball and quite dangerous around the box, and at < 20mil seems like another bargain from Arsenal. Now throw in AJ and Milner and you've got some difficult choices.

Though I do agree with most of 8.TheArchivist's comments, wouldn't consider Mata a 'top priority' as that would come also come with some tough choices over Tevez, Balotelli and Dzeko. Dare I say it, should Tevez decide to call it quits in England, Mata should definitely be considered!
