Man City to join high stakes race for David Alaba

Manchester City are set to join the high stakes race for Bayern Munich defender David Alaba.

According to ESPN, France Football have added Man City to the list of teams ready to make a move for David Alaba.

The rest of the teams are Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, PSG and Juventus.

Bayern Munich’s decision to withdraw their offer of a contract extension has sent Europe’s biggest clubs on red alert.

Alaba has been one of the best left-backs in the world for quite some time. His attacking style of football has captured the heart of many of Europe’s biggest teams.

Bayern Munich’s injury problems have seen Alaba play at Center back for the majority of time under current manager Hansi Flick. Now, the world has also seen his defensive capabilities at center back.

Man City need a good left back to complete their defense. The additions of Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake have solved City’s problems at the center of their defense. But, the problems at the left side continue to persist.

Portuguese defender Joao Cancelo performed exceptionally at that position against Liverpool. But, a permanent solution still evades the Pep Guardiola led side.

Man City were interested in a move for David Alaba in the summer transfer window. Although, the talks of a swap deal between Alaba and Leroy Sane were rejected by Bayern.

David Alaba will be available on a free transfer next summer. Though, Bayern may decide to sell him in the Winter transfer window to get a transfer fee.
