Marc Guehi will undergo a medical on Sunday ahead of completing his move to Manchester City, per BBC Sport journalist Sami Mokbel.
The Citizens have agreed a deal with Crystal Palace worth an initial £20 million plus add-ons.
Personal terms have also been agreed between the Manchester titans and the player.
Guehi is set to be the second arrival at City this winter, with the club having already signed Antoine Semenyo for £62.5m.
City could have waited until the end of the season to try and sign him for free in the summer.
But they were desperate for defensive reinforcements, as injuries to Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias left them severely short of options at the back.
Guehi has emerged as one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League in recent years.
The 25-year-old is an academy product of Chelsea, but joined Palace in 2021 for an £18m fee.
He quickly established himself as a key first-team, making 188 appearances across all competitions and scoring 11 goals.
The defender’s performances for the Eagles have led him to earning 26 caps for the England national team.
Guehi came close to joining Liverpool last summer, but Palace blocked the move on deadline day.
The Reds still had an interest in the player, but were not ready to make a move in January following their £446m summer spending spree.
Guehi’s signing could be a big boost for City, who have endured an underwhelming 2025-26 campaign so far.
Saturday’s 2-0 loss at Manchester United is their fifth defeat of the Premier League season, leaving them seven points behind leaders Arsenal in the table.
They triumphed 2-1 over Real Madrid in their previous Champions League game, but that came after a 2-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen at the Etihad Stadium.
