Manchester City return to action this Saturday as they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Etihad Stadium for an exciting fixture.
Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to make a big comeback in 2025-26 after their four-year reign of dominance in the Premier League came to an end last season.
Match Preview
City endured a disastrous 2024-25 campaign, as Liverpool ended their top-flight dominance by finishing 13 points above them in the table.
They also suffered an early elimination from the Champions League and failed to win any of the two domestic trophies.
However, Guardiola’s side have had an impressive summer transfer window, and their opening league victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers should give fans plenty of encouragement.
City smashed Wolves 4-0 at the Molineux Stadium, with Erling Haaland scoring twice and Tijjani Reijnders impressing on his competitive debut.
Meanwhile, Tottenham began the new era under Thomas Frank with an emphatic 3-0 success against Burnley last weekend.
Richarlison was the standout performer for Spurs as the Brazilian scored in both halves before Brennan Johnson’s 66th-minute strike.
Team News
Guardiola will not be able to call upon the services of Kalvin Phillips, Marcus Bettinelli and Mateo Kovacic as the trio are recovering from injury issues. Meanwhile, Josko Gvardiol and Savinho are also likely to be sidelined for Saturday’s clash.
As for Tottenham, James Maddison will miss out due to his ACL injury. Dejan Kulusevski and Radu Dragusin remain long-term absentees, while Manor Solomon is also likely to sit out the next match at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur prediction
City were at their destructive best against Wolves last time, scoring four unanswered goals to pick up an emphatic victory. Tottenham certainly have the tools to cause City problems in Saturday’s game, but we don’t see them getting anything in the weekend’s clash.
Manchester City 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur
