The blues feature quite a bit on Tuesday’s rumour mill. Here’s the latest tripe from various sources.
First up is the BBC, who report that Roberto Mancini is a possible target for Juventus. The Italian side were looking to lure Rafa Benitez to Turin but were put off by the huge compensation package they would have to pay. Might as well wait until he is sacked next week.
Gianluigi Buffon has hinted that he would move to England if he is let go by Juve. The Italian shot stopper has been a long rumoured transfer target for City and his comments will undoubtedly start a rush of new rumours.
The Daily Mirror reports Fernando Torres is considering his Anfield future, with City and Chelsea amongst the interested parties. The newspaper suggests both clubs have made ‘discreet’ enquiries that are yet to be rejected. Meanwhile the paper also reports that Brazilian star Robinho wants to quit City.
The same paper also claims Robinho wants to quite the blues. The Brazilian signed for the blues on transfer deadline day in 2008 but has been on loan at former club Santos since January.
Meanwhile, former keeper David James is on City’s wanted list, according to The Sun. While we’re at it, can we sign Bernardo Corradi and Ousmane Dabo too? But ESPN Soccernet have a more creditable rumour regarding Benfica winger Angel Di Maria. They report the blues are ready to again smash the British transfer record by paying £40m for the highly rated winger.
The report also mentions that the blues will offer a further £35m for Di Maria’s team mate David Luiz. ESPN claim a Premier League transfer specialist told them the fees have already been agreed for the pair. Better be careful or we’ll have Platini crying into his croissants again.
And finally The Daily Mail report claim City’s players will earn a £70,000 bonus should they win their remaining two fixtures and claim the last Champions League place.
What do you think? Are Di Maria and Luiz worth £75m? Should City also go for Gerrard and Torres? Rafa to City? Let us know your thoughts.
