West Ham v City – Pre Match Statistics

City take on West Ham in the final game of the season aiming to finish fifth in the top flight for the first time since Peter Reid led the blues to the same position in 1992.

But for the blues to achieve this they will have to win for only the third time in the Premiership at Upton Park.

The two teams have met nine times at West Ham, with the blues winning two and losing six and scoring just seven goals in the process. The majority of games between the two were played in the old first division but the blues didn’t fare much better.

From the 29 games played, City only emerged victorious on seven occasions, with The Hammers winning 16. City’s last win in East London was Sven Goran Eriksson’s first game in charge on the opening day of the 2007/08 season when the blues emerged 2-0 winners.

Overall, the blues have won just ten of the 41 league games played, with the Hammers winning 24. On average, City have scored just over a goal a game at Upton Park, scoring 42 times from 41 matches.

City have faced the Hammers just twice in cup competitions. In the FA Cup, they met in 2008, when the game finished 0-0 where as in the League Cup, the blues went to Upton Park for a 3rd round replay and won 2-1 in November 1984.
