Will Erling Haaland stay long enough to beat Sergio Aguero’s record at Man City?

Erling Haaland has taken the Premier League by storm after joining Manchester City last summer for a £51 million transfer fee

His incredible goalscoring feats have surprised the entire world, with the Norwegian bagging 52 goals to become Man City’s top scorer this season

Having already won the Premier League Player of the Season award, he is now one of the favourites for the 2023 Ballon d’Or

It is hard to find another player like Haaland who has been so ruthless in front of goal.

Pep Guardiola’s side pulled off a massive coup by signing the 22-year-old for such a low fee. But will he stay long enough to become Man City’s all-time record goalscorer?

Sergio Aguero currently holds that record with 260 goals, a feat he achieved during his 10 years stay at the Etihad Stadium.

Aguero was a prolific goalscorer for City, but Haaland looks even better than the Argentine, having already scored six hat-tricks in his first season.

Still, the Norwegian footballer will need around five more years to top the club’s all-time scoring charts

He is currently under contract at the Etihad until 2027 but it is not certain whether he will stay for the next four years.

The 22-year-old’s contract reportedly contained a clause that allowed him to leave for £150m in 2024, but that has now been removed

The Citizens are said to be preparing a new deal for the young striker, but it is not clear whether his new contract will also contain a release clause.

Real Madrid were keen to secure Haaland’s services but he decided to move to the Premier League. However, they are believed to be still in the chase for the 22-year-old
